Depression, Anxiety, and Substance Abuse
As of 1991, 25% of persons aged 15-54 had an anxiety
disorder within their lifetime, 27% had an substance abuse/ dependence
disorder, and 19% had a mood disorder. (1)
Among this same age group, 17% experienced an anxiety
disorder and 11% experienced a mood disorder within the past year. (1)
About 52 million people, ages 15-54, have experienced an
alcohol, drug abuse, or mental health disorder in the past year. (1)
About 27% of individuals 15-24 years old had some type of
mental disorder within the past year. (1)
